An immersion in sound, a moment to deeply relax, to have your mind quietened and your Soul heard. A massage for the body using only sound.

An ocean of gong sound washing over you as you lay on the floor. Like ripples created by a pebble skipping over a pond, gong sound gently reverberates over, around and through the entire body to calm, relax and soothe.

Your heart rate slows, blood pressure drops and breath is restored to its natural rhythm. Quality "You" time.

Gong sound is the perfect reset button, removing your stress and anxieties, restoring a much-needed balance to your mind, body and spirit. Gongs need nothing but for you to be receptive in order to fully experience their gift, but they must be experienced in order to be understood.

Please bring with you a blanket or sleeping bag for warmth and a pillow for your head.

The Big Chant


FlowMotion.Life is proud to be hosting The Big Chant by Jo Shannon to help her raise money to take The Big Theatre and our local talent to the Edinburgh Fringe this August.
29 February 2020, 2-5:00 pm

This three-hour workshop will be divided into three sections:
- a physical practice to prepare the body to sit
- a breath and vocal practice to prepare the body to chant
- the mantras themselves

Chanting mantras has many known benefits including focusing the mind, releasing emotion, calming the nervous system and creating connection. Join Jo on the mat, create beautiful vibrations and instil a profound sense of calm and well-being.

Jo Shannon trained with Pure Light Yoga School and the Teen Yoga Foundation and is a member of Yoga Alliance Professionals. Jo also teaches piano and singing and is Co-Director of Big Theatre, a company that produces theatre with young people. All proceeds from this workshop will go to Big Theatre to help fund the young theatre company’s trip to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August.

February Bodyweight Strength Workshop


Our last Bodyweight Strength Workshop with Ben Lynch of United Calisthenics Groups was super fun. In fact it was so much fun we have decided to make it a monthly event. Come and join us.

The Bodyweight Strength Workshop is a full body workout session. This 90 minute practical seminar will cover:
~ core strength & activation
~ shoulder mobility
~ push strength
~ scapula activation
~ pull strength
~ skill based movements
~ warming up
~ hand balancing techniques
~ lever length and positioning
~ static holds and dynamic flows.

Ben is a fully qualified level 3 personal trainer with an extensive skillset in the field of Calisthenics and bodyweight movement. This session will be perfect for Yoga Practitioners, Climbers, Pole Fitness, Martial artists, Dancers and more!

Embracing the Yin and the Yang Yoga Workshop
March 7th, 10:00-13:00

This is going to be a fantastic morning of Yang or dynamic style of yoga with Wendy, followed by Yin yoga with Sharon. Yang Yoga involves lots of mindful movement of the body while Yin Yoga is about stillness. To create balance within our body and our lives, we need to embrace both the yin and the yang, the dark and the light, the feminine and the masculine, the inner god/goddess and the inner demon. Come and join us!

This workshop is suitable for those with at least 6 months experience of yoga. No super power required as modifications and variations will be offered.

Heather Dexter-Crow


Heather qualified with the Yoga Alliance Professionals accredited Pure Light Yoga School at the beginning of 2018. She's a mum to three very lively boys so it seemed only natural that she volunteered to share her love of yoga with the children at her kids school. Heather was amazed at the difference she saw in the children over the course of a term of weekly lesson - from being fizzy with excitement to being able to sit and meditate in sanskrit! The class teacher noticed a real difference too and reported that children were able to calm themselves and settle quicker in the classroom. Children's classes always include games and will often include a story. The aim is that the children enjoy themselves while building strength, flexibility and balance.

Heather loves all aspects of yoga including all the challenges it brings. Her classes are informal with a relaxed atmosphere and she encourages any questions from students. She teaches a flowing style which can be strenuous at times but is always offer plenty of modifications to make classes accessible to everyone. She tries to make classes fun, so that students leave feeling happy, relaxed and energized - whatever their age!

We are even more delighted to bring to you another Yoga Tots class every Friday at 12:30-1:00 pm. The class is for kids of 18 months to 4 years old and their parent/carer. Each class includes Yoga-based movement, songs, games and activities that help to create deeper bonding between child & parent or carer, and promote healthy development, creativity and a sense of calm. Our Yoga Tots class is 30 minutes long and there is then time for a drink and a chat.

Kundalini is a physically strong and spiritual yoga practice. It connects us to our deepest truth and propels us into the life we are supposed to be living. This form of yoga works to safely stimulate and move the dormant energy at the base of the spine, releasing our highest human potential.

Downloaded from the ancient yogis to spiritual master Yogi Bhajan, Kundalini yoga was brought to the West in the 60’s by Yogi Bhajan himself who knew that humanity would face a crisis and would need to build strong bodies, nervous systems and immune systems.

This powerful practice nurtures the physical, mental and spiritual elements of the body, developing stamina, strength, focus and flexibility through the use of kriyas which contain postures, pranayama (breathwork), mantra, meditation and deep relaxation.

Carrie Meadows


Carrie has been practicing yoga for most of her adult life, and teaching yoga since 2010. Here is a bit about Carrie in her own words.

‘My mum is a yoga teacher so Yoga has always been in my life in some form or another. Over the last 10 years I have worked in schools, teaching yoga to children and teachers and teaching in Adult education, alongside raising my two children. In 2018 I came to Kundalini yoga, or, it came to me. I was looking for something to challenge a way of thinking I had about myself, I wanted to increase my Self belief. I also wanted to deepen my spirituality. So after starting a personal practice and finding it to be different to any yoga I’d done in the past, and also feeling the powerful effects of being more connected to my energy system, I decided I wanted to share it with others and became a teacher. This work has introduced me to lots of new yoga. Its combination of postures, both dymanic and meditative, with mantra, pranayama and meditation has given me the changes I was looking for.'

Our Kids Yoga class is super fun! Heather uses stories and games to make yoga poses, breath work, and meditation fun and accessible. Children then get the chance to relax and find some peace at the end of class after having burnt off lots of energy. Yoga helps to promote healthy development, develop creativity and self-confidence, and teach children to self-soothe and to find their place of peace and quiet within. This class is open for kids from 4-12 yr olds.

We are so delighted to have the wonderful Bek Smith with us for our Yoga Tots class on Monday at 11 am. Here is a little bit about Bek, in her own words:

After many years as a successful lawyer, I had a major lifestyle change and became a mother, yoga teacher and Reiki therapist. I particularly love sharing yoga and Reiki with those who have challenges of one sort or another. Being chronically ill myself, I know how powerful both Yoga and Reiki can be in improving both health and quality of life. I love to share that with others.
Over the years, I have added to my initial Yoga Teacher training and now offer specialised classes for toddlers, primary school children, those new to yoga and those who have restricted mobility. I am also now qualified in pre- and post-natal yoga and am undertaking my Advanced Yoga Teacher training.

Bring your little ones (18 months to 4 years) to our studio and practise yoga together!

No one is too old to learn something new. Silver Swans is a ballet class for adults of all ages, experience and abilities. Vishwam Heckert


Vishwam is a Heart of Living Yoga Teacher and Teacher Trainer. He has been practising yoga for nearly 20 years and for as long as he can remember has wanted to know what is Real. For many years, Vishwam searched through the mind and scholarly study to try to realise peace, love and freedom. Heart of Living Yoga appeared, offering a direct route to that which he had long been searching for. Vishwam trained as an Integral Yoga Teacher in 2011 and has been studying with Padma Devi since then. Vishwam runs a Gentle Stress Relief Clinic in Matlock where he shares mindfulness and bodywork techniques to help people rest, relax and heal. He also gently, playfully and joyfully offers the teachings of yoga around the UK and internationally. Vishwam is a well-loved and loving teacher. Come and practise under his gentle guidance and find your peace!

Radiant Heart Yoga and Meditation


We are so excited to add this beautiful class to our timetable. This class will begin on Wednesday, May 15th, and will take place weekly from that day.

Imagine giving yourself time in the middle of each week to recharge your batteries and rediscover your inner radiance. Sound good?

Open to all abilities, you will to get to know yourself in a new way, to find out what feels just right for you in the moment and to listen to that. Through dedicated, heartfelt practice, with support and guidance, you will find your body and mind responding to life with greater ease.

We will generally begin the class with a short guided meditation, to find our peace, and then enjoy a beautiful series of movements, breathing practices and deep relaxation designed to balance subtle energies, nurture the body, and calm the mind. The class ends with a natural period of meditative silence, resting together in the heart.

Regular practice of Radiant Heart Yoga & Meditation can lead to being happy for absolutely no reason. Why not find out for yourself?

Classes are £9 drop-in or £45 for a six week block.

Sharon Cauldwell


Sharon Cauldwell is our newest team member who teaches the fabulous Burlesque Chair Fitness class. Here is a little bit about Sharon in her own words.

Having given up work 10 years ago after having my three youngest daughters, I found I’d totally lost my own identity and didn't know what I was going to do now they were all in full time school.
I had grown lazy and comfortable in my daily boring daily routine, I had also lost all my self-confidence and started suffering from anxiety. I knew something had to change. I then accidentally stumbled across Burlesque Chair Dance and instantly knew it was what I’d been looking for.

After searching for classes in my area I couldn’t find any and then I saw the instructor course and thought “I could do that” so I signed up! With a lot of hard work I passed my assesment and I am now a Burlesque Chair DanceTM instructor. I am also a Show girl instructor for Burlexercise, Another fantastic exercise programme with a bit if added sass! I now want to help women across the UK find that confidence and feel fit and healthy and love their bodies.

Eva Cooper-Kacmarikova


Eva has worked with children in her role as a primary school teacher for many years. Her love for children and her desire to help them develop into happy, well-adjusted and healthy people combined with her love for yoga and teaching yoga led her to train with our very own Jane Collins to deliver Yoga for Children classes. Eva spends her free-time with her family travelling and, of course, practising yoga. Eva has been coming to FlowMotion.Life as a student for a long time and, as such, it is such a pleasure for us to have her join our team.

No one is too old to learn something new. Silver Swans is a ballet class for adults of all ages, experience and abilities. Lara of Peak Ballet is a wonderful teacher who inspires and encourages her students to have fun and trust in their own body's ability to learn to dance. Mum & Baby Yoga Class


Motherhood can bring such joy but also a bit of apprehension and anxiety. Birthlight Post-natal and Baby Yoga classes offer a series of specially adapted gentle yoga poses, breathwork, visualisation, meditation and relaxation to help you cope with the changes in your life and to bond more deeply with your baby.
Post-natal yoga poses and deep breathing techniques heal and tone your body, calm your mind, and provide you with the tool to cope with the stresses of parenthood. You and your baby are encouraged to interact and bond with each other during class. We spend roughly half the class on the mother and the other half on the baby. We encourage mothers to gently practice yoga with their little ones. The movements and massages promote healthy physical, emotional and mental development for the babies while empowering the parents with creative ways to interact with their little ones.

Please try to leave your pram/buggy in the car and carry your baby into class. A car seat is fine. Please bring along a blanket, a yoga mat and a small cushion. A bottle of water is a good idea too. Thank you.

Dave West


Dave has been practicing yoga since 2004. His then yoga teacher hoodwinked him in to teaching yoga and he completed a 500 hr British Wheel of Yoga Teaching Diploma with Paul Fox. He left teaching in mainstream education and became a full-time yoga teacher in 2009. Since then he has attended many workshops and residentials with world class teachers like John Scott, Doug Swenson, David Swenson, Andrea Kwiatkowski and Joey Miles. Dave teaches a range of classes around Chesterfield from gentle Hatha yoga to a more dynamic style, he also teaches classes for Derbyshire County Council. At FlowMotion.Life in Matlock, he teaches a dynamic Hatha class which focuses on correct alignment and technique but also incorporates a variety of breath-work and relaxation practices.

Lara Ross


Lara is the founder of Peak Ballet www.peakballet.co.uk, a local ballet school offering tuition for all ages. She is a registered teacher of the prestigious Royal Academy of Dance (RAD), which is one of the world’s most influential dance education organisations.

Having a previous general teaching background (PGCE), Lara is equipped with the skills to inspire and motivate each and every student to reach their full potential, regardless of age or ability. She believes a fun and holistic approach not only enhances learning, but is conducive to developing transferable skills for life. Having been an adult improver in ballet herself, Lara understands that achieving small individual milestones is fundamental for personal development, fulfilment and self-esteem.

Adult beginners and improvers are welcomed at Peak Ballet classes to learn and put into practice the fundamentals of classical ballet technique. Julie Millward


Jules has been practising yoga since 1994, and in 2014 began training to teach with the British Wheel of Yoga, eventually completing her studies with FRYOG (Friends of Yoga) after moving to Matlock in 2016. She has recently completed training courses in Supporting Pregnant and Postnatal Students (with YogaCampus) and Applied Anatomy and Physiology of Yoga (with Yoga Synergy), and has attended many workshops over the years on subjects as diverse as Ayurveda, Jivamukti, and Inversions.

Jules teaches Holistic Yoga that is deeply rooted in the Hatha tradition and offers improved strength, balance, and flexibility for both body and mind. Her background in teaching university-level English has provided useful experience of planning sessions that encourage students to develop their skills and challenge themselves while progressing at their own pace.

Holistic Yoga


In Holistic Yoga classes the whole person is balanced, eased, and nourished through the integration of yoga practices to strengthen the body, the mind, and the heart. Each session is a balance of physical yoga postures, breathwork, relaxation and meditation, leading to improved physical and mental wellbeing. In addition, we shall take a closer look at one particular pose and explore it in greater detail each week, looking at variations, ideas for better alignment, options for making the pose easier or more challenging, and an outline of its benefits and effects on your body. A further thread running throughout the classes is maintaining – or improving – the health of your lower back by incorporating a variety of postures to strengthen the relevant muscles, improve posture, and ease the nagging backaches and stiffness so many of us experience.

Holistic Yoga is concerned with more than just the focus on physical postures though, and so we will learn specific breathing practices and other techniques to settle the mind, manage stress, and improve mental clarity, and each class will finish with a period of deep relaxation and meditation. Classes are accessible whether you are new to yoga or have practised before, and neither age nor fitness level matters.

Bellebambino baby has developed their fun & fresh infant massage courses & Nicola leads the dedicated team to deliver unique specialist classes. All available on-line where you are unable to attend local venues. ​ Nicola holds certification in Safeguarding Children, Special Educational Needs, NNEB (National Nursery Nursing Examination Board), Post Natal Depression Support. She is also a Hands on Babies certified infant massage therapist. Fully trained in Midwifery approved techniques. ​

Baby Massage


The first few months of motherhood can be tough. Join us in our new Baby Massage class to learn tools to calm your baby, promote his/her healthy development, create deeper bond, and help your baby to learn to relax. Heather has had years of experience helping mothers to connect with their little ones through gentle and loving touches.

The class is relaxed, informal and fun all at once. It's £6 per class or £20 for a block of 4 consecutive classes.

Sharon Price


Sharon has been practising Yoga since 2000 and teaching since 2004. She is based in Matlock, Derbyshire and teaches regular weekly classes in the area, as well as weekend workshops.

Sharon is passionate about her own yoga practice and loves to share her enthusiasm with her students, whether complete beginners or experienced yogis. She strongly believes that yoga is for everyone, not just those who are already fit and supple. She takes great care to find out about injuries, illnesses or any physical limitations of each of her students to ensure that yoga postures are adapted to suit the individual’s needs and ability.

Sharon teaches a range of weekly yoga classes, weekend workshops and retreats, either residential weekends in the UK or week-long retreats. These very successful events have been held in Turkey, Morocco and Italy, and future events are planned for Spain. She also offers private one-to-one or small group yoga sessions which are ideal for those requiring personal attention.

Sharon is a fully qualified teacher with the British Wheel of Yoga and a Yoga Alliance Senior Tutor. She continues to study and expand her understanding and knowledge of yoga by completing specialist training course such as: BWY Children's Module, BWY Pranayama module and the BWY Philosophy module.

Swing Yoga Class


Swing yoga incorporates a swing or hammock as an integral part of the practice. The hammock is a versatile prop and is used to explore creative ways to incorporate it into our yoga practice. In swing yoga we use the hammock to assist in the practice: we’re often using the ground and sharing our weight with the hammock, which informs the choices we make about how to grip, how to engage or relax, how to sequence, and more.

Please rest assured that for all sessions Sharon can adapt and modify the practice where necessary to help you enjoy and gain the maximum benefit from the class.

£30 for 3-week block (drop-in £15, but only if places are available).
Places for Induction and classes are strictly limited to 8 persons, so early booking is strongly recommended to guarantee a place.

Jo Shannon


Jo has been interested in yoga since her 20s, attending classes, on and off, alongside her work as a dancer, actor and musician. Jo has also taught all three performing arts disciplines across a broad age range, from toddler dance and adult theatre improvisation to instrumental lessons for young musicians. As Co-Director of Big Theatre, a theatre company for young people, she has spent 10 years working with teenagers and enjoying their particular brand of energy. It was from this starting point that Jo decided to train as a Teen Yoga teacher. After discovering Wendy Snongjati’s yoga classes, she found the yoga training that she wanted and is now keen to share yoga with teenagers, knowing that it was something that she would have loved when she was that age. Jo aims to make her classes flowing, challenging, strengthening and toning, with the intention of increasing physical confidence and well-being. All teenagers are welcome.

Jo trained with the Teen Yoga Foundation and Pure Light Yoga School and is a member of Yoga Alliance Professionals.

Wendy Snongjati


Wendy is the founder of FlowMotion.Life and a Yoga Alliance Professionals Senior Yoga Teacher. After qualifying with Sun Power Yoga (accredited by BWY), Wendy continued to study with many amazing teachers such as Leslie Kaminoff (Yoga Anatomy author), Sadie Nardini (Core Strength Vinyasa founder), Francoise Freedman (Birthlight), David Sye (Yogabeats), Jambo Truong (Forrest Yoga) and Andrea Kwiatkowski (Jivamukti Yoga), Wendy teaches a wide range of classes including Wild Core Flow Yoga, Earth Core Flow Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Gentle Chair Yoga, Pregnancy Yoga and Mum & Baby Yoga. Wendy is also a teacher trainer, co-teaching with her yoga sister, Sharon Price, under Pure Light Yoga School. In her free time, Wendy goes for long walks in Matlock as well as other beautiful places in the Derbyshire Dales with her family, enjoys all food vegan, and occasionally (ok, a bit more often than that) indulges in vegan chocolate and lots of bubbly.
