Barre is a workout technique inspired by elements of ballet, dance and Pilates. The focus in on low-impact, high intensity movements designed to strengthen and tone your body. It is designed to be a full-body workout divided into different sections that use small targeted movements, high repitition and light weight or resistance to work on major muscle groups, including the arms, thighs, glutes, and core. The 60-minute class includes flows or sections that target different areas of the body. These flows can be swapped and changed to give variety and different structure to the class. Most flows are performed holding the barre for balance, and others on the mat (or in a chair for those who struggle to get to the floor). There will be mobility and flexibility flows too, so that your body feels strengthened and supple. Nearly all exercises can be done at a lower or higher intensity - options to modify are offered throughout the class. You work as hard as you want!
